The First Baptist Church of Mt. Repose is affiliated with the Southern Baptist and we participate in the Cooperative Program.  What this means is that we, together with other churches who participate in the Cooperative Program, collect monies to help support our missionaries both here (North American Missions and State Missions) and abroad (International Missions).  The offerings collected from all of the participating churches are pooled together and are redistributed to fund the International Mission Board (IMB), the North American Mission Board (NAMB), and other Southern Baptist agencies and institutions.

Through the Cooperative Program of the Southern Baptist Convention, Southern Baptist missionaries are funded year round. However, we do have certain times of the year when we collect special missions offerings.  Around April or May we collect for The Annie Armstrong mission emphasis.  This is our North American missions collection named for a tireless supporter of missions. To learn more about Annie Armstrong and the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering, click on this link: Annie Armstrong.  NAMB uses 100% of the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering to support missionaries and their ministries. In September we held our Ray Roberts mission emphasis, which was our State missions offering, and I am happy to say that we exceeded our goal this year!  Our next emphasis will be the latter part of Nov. into Dec. and this is our time to spot-light The Lottie Moon Offering (LMCO), which is our collection to help support our missionaries Internationally.  The IMB uses 100 percent of LMCO funds to support missionaries and their ministries.

The work of our missionaries is of the greatest importance.  They are truly following God's command that we "Go and Tell" the world about Jesus!  While not all of us are called to do the same work that our missionaries do, we are all able to be missionaries and carry The Word of God to those in our own lives and in our communities.  We can help our missionaries by giving offerings so they can continue to do the work God has called them to do.  We can also help our missionaries by including them in our daily prayers: praying that the good news about Jesus would be well received and that people would come to have faith in Jesus Christ; praying for the safety of missionaries and new followers of Christ; praying God's blessings upon them and their families and praying that they might fulfill that which God would ask of them.
